A heads up!

I was going back through my films and t.v. shows and I noticed that some of them might need revamping, and some I haven't even posted about, or if I have, they were when I started blogging. (five years in September) and so are different from how I feel now or how I would format them. Anyway, so I want to present you with a list of ones which I'd like to do, and if you would be so kind as to comment as to which you'd be most interested in seeing, I'll post them. Of course, if no one tells me their preference I'll simply post whichever I like. :)

Hogan's Heroes. One of my all time favourite T.V. shows set in WWII, I did a blog post on this but it was one of my first ever, and I'd like to do another on it.

Arrow. About a vigilante, basically a mix of Batman and Iron Man but the episodes are well done and are quite addictive.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The best musical ever! If you don't like it then well, I don't know what to say to you.....

Yes, I know it's a desktop background but it's really cool! 

BBC Robin Hood series. Looking back, I want to do this again, I love the TV show, but sadly we don't have all of them on DVD, but the third season is the worst! The first two, awesome the third, *shudders*

The Scarlet Pimpernel. I love this movie! It's amazing based of Baroness Orczy's two novels, Eldorado and The Scarlet Pimpernel, I simply adore it, although the middle is a bit draggy at times. :)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I saw this last week and am currently working on a post (sort of) I thought it was really good! :D

Hornblower. This is also definitely coming. It's going to be a joint post of mine and Rogan's, we watched one of them the other night and they are just so well made and really cool!

Robin Hood Vs. King Arthur. Robin Hood Week.

A question that I will invariably ask people when we are talking old legends or medieval is this. Who do you like better, Robin Hood or King Arthur? Not just the people themselves, but their stories, their characters and places as well. :)

Okay, well obviously I've read and know a lot more about Robin Hood. I have read probably only one series of King Arthur books all the way through, these being my Squire Tales, others I have skip-read or flicked to different stories in it but not read all of it.
Now, me, I'm a Hoodie (Robin Hood all the way!) but maybe the main difference with the King Arthur legends and the Robin Hood legends is this: The Arthurian Legends don't always focus on King Arthur, they sometimes go and follow the adventures of one of his knights, or maybe him, but it is not always definite.

Love this.

Robin Hood on the other hand is in every single story! He is the main character of every one. But the other difference for me is this: Robin was just a simple guy with a passion for helping the less fortunate and a rather good shot with his bow. :) King Arthur was a King who spent a lot of time giving counsel to his knights after he became king and stayed basically at Camelot his whole life. Kind of boring. The other thing is that King Arthur has the influence as a King and a monarch whereas Robin Hood, he's nothing special, he's an outlawed man but he fights injustice, and by doing so, he risks his own capture and execution. King Arthur and Robin Hood are the same in some ways, but they're different as well. And I think I will always like Robin Hood better than King Arthur, not just the characters, but the stories, the legends.

And I think the idea of living in the Green Wood, fighting the Sheriff's men sounds pretty cool. Being a knight would be good as well, but I'd prefer the former.
And I think I always will.

A little bit about my book. Robin Hood Week.

My book as I like to call it is a retelling of Robin Hood. It's called Outlaw, and I must say that I am rather proud of it as well. I am very shy when it comes to sharing things that I have been working on (like stories) because I worry about what people will think and that it is not good enough. Outlaw is a year old this month. It was my YWP NaNoWriMo book 2012. But it has continued to grow. Currently it is 33,000 words, 43 pages and thirteen chapters, which though it might not sound like a lot to some people, is a HUGE amount to me! It is the longest book I've ever written and I am determined to finish it before I move on.
Anyway, today seeing as it is Robin Hood week, AND that I had this post in my drafts, I thought I'd share with you about my book.

Have any of you seen the Looney Tunes short of Daffy Duck as Robin Hood? It's great fun to watch! :D 

The original idea for Outlaw came from something like wanting Robin to have a shocking revelation about something, like his childhood friends were bad guys. Next came the idea that Maid Marian and Will Scarlett were brother and sister, and that Will was a knight. I don't know how much I plotted out for this book, quite a lot actually. :) I spent the first two days of NaNo finishing my outline (which I didn't finish anyway) :P But I had a good outline anyway and so I was happy with it.

My characters:
Robin Hood: Obviously, Robin is in it. He's the main character after all. I didn't notice until a few weeks ago as I was looking over my outline that I'd actually forgotten that Much is suppose to be his younger brother, I'll have to fix that up in a second draft. Robin's a young forester when we meet him, and his father has been dead for a few years, he also being a remarkable and loyal forester. He's a loner among the other young foresters, constantly teased and provoked by them, though he usually ignored them. Then one day it got to much as his main taunter Jan by name, insulted his father. He shot a deer and was outlawed, and he thinks its good he did as he can now help people. Being a forester meant having his hands tied to fight injustice. His best friend is Alan 'A' Dale and it is Alan who teaches him to sword fight. He can't remember Marian's name when he first meets her and refers to her in his head as Lady-something-or-other, he is angry at King Richard for leaving his people and going off to the Holy Land when he should at least have given England a little consideration. He can be sometimes very stupid and reckless, but always contrite when he makes a mistake. He is loyal and though I find myself shaking my head at some of the things he does and writing how he's father would have been disappointed with his actions, I like to write about him anyway.

Maid Marian: Surprisingly I haven't written very much about Marian she was just rescued from Nottingham castle and so yes, not a lot to say about her yet. :)

Alan 'A' Dale: I LOVE to write Alan! He's French (surprise!) and the son of a nobleman who ran away when his father told him that music was not a career for a Count's son. He is very skilled with a sword and is probably the most irritating Merry Men out of them all. He's actually the one who came up with the title! His instrument is a mandola and he can also sing. He and Fredrick often have talking standoffs and Fredrick is the best when it comes to irritating Alan right back! I have started to write a Diary of Alan 'A' Dale, kind of like a prequel to the novel, but I have not gotten very far with it. He is very loyal to Robin and is ready to belt anyone who does anything to his leader. He can be very insulting and is always looking for new words to use for this particular action. Sadly I think I will kill him off. :(

Will Scarlett: Will is actually a knight, but he doesn't like to be. He is very skilled with weapons and is a very protective brother when it comes to his sister, Marian. The two were orphaned when they were still children and were sent to their only living relative a stupid aunt who was not the best when it came to using her head. Though Will actually argued a lot with her. I haven't written as much about Will, either as he comes later on with Marian. He is a year or so older then Robin but looks younger than he actually is.

John Little McBride: Bodyguard to King Richard fiercely loyal to the King. A Scot even so with red beard and hair, and he carries his famous staff with him at all times. He is seasoned in the art of war and is sent back by King Richard to ask for Robin's aid. He won't stand any disloyalty to the king and proves when he grabs Robin with a dagger at his throat and gets him to swear to not act so.

Friar Tuckan: I have not written anything about him yet. He will be the assistant to the Archbishop of Canterbury who Robin and his men will kidnap. Not telling why. :) He was raised by the Archbishop a kind man and is loyal to him and does whatever he asks.

My other Merry Men: Fredrick, Robert and Tom. Because of how I've done the I added a few other Merry Men in there isn't very much to say about them at the present.

Guy of Gisbourne: Childhood friend of Robin, now one of Prince John's most ardent followers. Suffice to say that I hate Guy, and that is a good thing.

Angelo, the Sheriff of Nottingham: Also childhood friend of Robin's. Is more a thinking and devious planner that Guy. They don't like each other and think nothing of the friendship that they had shared with Robin befoe they went away to London.

So those are my characters, and Alan is probably my favourite to write, followed by Robin and I'm sure I'll enjoy writing more of Will and Marian as they will become more main.

Now some of my favourite parts that I have written:

'"Frankly it's none of your business." Replied Robin crossly "Now, kindly let me go," "Very well." He withdrew the dagger from Robin's neck and stepped back. The first thing Robin did was drop to the ground and vomit up his last meal.'


 'Quickly he straggled to the bank coughing and spluttering, the stranger on the other hand had quickly passed onto the other bank, where he was howling with laughter and clutching at his sides, looking so merry that Robin would have liked to give him his own dunking. Shut up, he thought morosely, but the man continued to howl and he was grinning all over his face. "Two choices...." he gasped 'leave or answer-" he broke off again in another peal of laughter.'

 '"I suppose," said Alan, "still-" "O for Goodness sake!" Exclaimed Will explosively, "Do you ever be quiet? EVER?" "No!" Chorused the other outlaws together. "What a pity it isn't lent then," he replied, "otherwise we could dress you up as a fat mother Abbess who had taken a vow of silence."'

 'Alan brandished a hand basket filled with flowers and grimaced at the other outlaws gathered around. "Anyone laugh I'll bash their brains out with this," he assured them all with a malicious look on his face.'

'The man sat in a polished wooden chair. It was smooth to the touch and very comfortable, the man did not seem to notice, though. He looked thoroughly annoyed and being a Prince, and having a name like John, were not very good combinations when it came to being thoroughly annoyed. ' - Introducing Prince John. :)

'“Until you tell me what you were doing here in Sherwood I am not going to let you go. And also until I know that you are entirely trustworthy. I’m not going to let you go. So you see, you have no choice.” Robin leaned forward “Did I mention I’m not very patient when it comes to people telling me information?” He looked down at the bow making sure that Alan saw the movement.' -I also forgot to mention that Robin does like to know everything about everyone as well. And he does get impatient. :) 

And this is how I am going to end my book. Robin is NOT going to die!

Robin Hood Week: The Tag

So I AM a bit late but I wanted to participate in Eva's 'Robin Hood week' over at Ramblings of a Janeite.
To start it off here is the Robin Hood tag! :D

How where you introduced to the story/character of Robin Hood? Robin Hood has always been a part of my life. We had a story tape of Robin Hood (the original stories) which we would listen to in our cassette player and I loved it. My other introduction was when I was even littler than that and we bought the cartoon Disney Robin Hood. It became my favourite cartoon and I watched it all the time. But Robin Hood has just basically been around always. :) What's your favorite book or film adaption of Robin Hood?
I've seen a few adaptions of Robin Hood on film. The Adventures of Robin Hood which we basically watched with a commentary of criticism throughout (yeah we do that when we don't like a movie :) ) the most weird thing was that Robin was wearing tights with sequins, I mean sooooo medieval England, right? :P As I mentioned before I've seen the Disney Robin Hood many, many times, the first half is better than the second half as it gets a bit boring. I sort of watched the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves movie with Kevin Costner but I closed my eyes whenever the witch was around, and it wasn't that great. I have also seen the BBC Robin Hood and I have got to say that that is the BEST version of all, though I hate it how Marian gets killed, they could've just killed of King Richard, right? It was not as nearly enjoyable in the third series, I did cry when Robin died. :( *sniff* BBC is awesome anyway!I do not have any intention of seeing the Robin Hood: Men in Tights or the 2010 movie, Robin Hood.My favourite book adapation is the Robert Lancelyn Green, though I have read the Howard Pyle one, and a few others.

What's you favorite Robin Hood story or legend? Probably the rescue of Will Scarlet from hanging 

Who's your favorite character? From what version? I love Robin, Marian, Will Scarlet and Little John from the original stories, Robin and Little John and Maid Marian from the cartoon, and ummm, so many characters from BBC Robin Hood. And I'm an Allan defender, just so you know. :P 

Who's your least favorite character? Guy of Gisbourne and the Prioress if we are going from the legends, BBC T.V. show, Isabella (Isasmella as we call her) and Kate. 

What was the last Robin Hood-related thing you watched/read? BBC Robin Hood last night! The last thing I read was (I think) a little bit of my own Robin Hood story: Outlaw 

What is your favorite Robin Hood-related quote? Umm, can't think of any at the moment. 

Oh, I know! 'WE ARE ROBIN HOOD!' 

 How would you rate your obsession with Robin Hood from 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest)? 8 I would think!

I'm absolutely crazy!

Yep I've been thinking about it all year doing NaNoWriMo.
Some of you might not know what NaNoWriMo is so I'll explain.
On the 1st of November you begin to write your own novel. You have to complete your word count in thirty days so from November 1st to November 30 you are writing your own story.
Most people who's blogs I read try for 50,000 words while people like me who don't think they could do that much instead of signing up for what I call the '50,000 words NaNo' I am going to sing up for the Young Writers program.

I've only done NaNo once before in 2009 when i was turning eleven the thing about November is that there is so much which I'll do that month.
We'll be celebrating Braedon's big 21st birthday sometime that month even though he's birthday's actually on the 29th of October.
My birthday is in November the 16th at noon is precisely when I was born almost fourteen years ago.
Saxon's birthday is also in November (its eleven days after my birthday) on the 27th.
November is also the month before Christmas and we start Advent on the 2nd of December. We like to decorate our house with lots of things and it is very pretty after that.
The St. Andrew Novena starts on the 30th of November which is a novena which you have to say 15 times a day! It gets pretty tiring after a while. :)
And the one other thing is this: Every year we make each other Christmas gifts to give to each other and these are sometimes very time consuming.

I've only finished four out of the sixteen I need to make so I really need to hurry. In 2009 I didn't manage to get all of my Christmas presents done because I was so busy with NaNo. I only had 5,000 words but I wrote them all down in a book and because I'm wasn't a very fast typer  (not that I'm super fast now but I am competent I think) so it took me a while.
I am trying to finish all of my Christmas presents to people before my birthday at the latest. I want to be able to enjoy advent and not be on Christmas Eve still knitting and getting a really sore thumb from rubbing the wool on it. I want to focus on Advent and the feast days therein and prepare for Christmas and not have the worry of finishing my presents to weigh me down because I myself am a person who can get stressed easily. If i can't finish the presents before November (which would be preferable) or before my birthday than I don' think I'll be able to keep up with NaNo


I am planning on having an hour a day to do my writing in and though I'm not sure what my word count will be I think it'll be something like 15-20,000 but you can go over your word count if you want.
The novel I am planning on writing is a Robin Hood novel. I am a HUGE Robin Hood fan and I've read several versions of Robin Hood's Adventures.

I am going to make it how I want to though, and not necessarily how the legends go. I think I'll also make Marian and Will Scarlet brother and sister and add in a couple of merry men who I'm going to make up. I'm not going to make Robin die at the end because that always makes me cry I think I'll just have him and Marian get married and that'll be the end.

So that is what I am going to be doing (hopefully) in November among other things and I myself have to agree that juggling this with school and all that other stuff is going to be difficult and I think I am absolutely crazy.
But we'll just have to see!

My favourite villains.

After having done the post on 'people in movies who irritate me,' I thought I might do a post on my favourite villains. So here goes

In my family we have various terms for bad guy we have the 'good bad bad guys' and the 'bad bad guys'. The good bad bad guys are the villains who are good at being a bad bad guy and the bad bad guys are the villains who have got no style, no background, don't have any good lines, plus, they need to be EVIL bad guys whereas some villains seem to be just boring.

Loki

I mean seriously this guy is really bad. He lets in serveral frost giants jsut to 'spoil brother's big day' and he is such a convincing villian seeming always to be on the peacemakers side but really he's the one who gives Thor the idea to attack the Frost Giants in the first place. he's the picture of innocence and I actually feel a little sad for him in Thor. In the Avengers, however he was a bad guy...a really honest to bad, bad guy. I didn't like him as much in that, probably because he looked a little crazy with the whole 'wild hair' thing. And I don't think he was a smart or cunning.

Count Olaf:

This guy has style. Definitely. He also had some cool lines and his disguises are very nicely done. His ambition is to be the guardian of the three Baudelaire children and there of gain their extreme wealth and fortune. I like him best as Stephano but not as captain Sham. He also is one fo those villians who is extremly bad but he's also your favorutie character from 'A series of Unfortunate Events.' "Do you have a hall pass?" Too funny.

Darth Sidious

A lot of people seem to think that Darth Sidious isn't the best Sith out of the whole Star Wars saga and everyone likes Darth Vader. The thing with Darth Vader is 1. He's a minion of Sidious, 2. He's got no cool lines and he doesn't have Sith lightning. He also breathes funny. 

If there is one Sith who is really villainous: Sidious. He promises to spare Count Dooku if Anakin happens to win in the duel between them but he doesn't, he bides his time for about what, fifteen years, to finally get Anakin to be his apprentice? Which proves he's happy to be patient unlike some other villains. Sure he is a scary bad guy how he fights especially against Mace Windu with the whole 'jumping in the air screaming and freakign everyone who's watching it out of their wits' (No, not really like that)  he looks pretty hideous and no he really doesn't have any good lines but he is EVIL and he plots and waits. He also gets all the Jedi killed. 

He's not a particular favourtie villain of mine but he does deserve to be distinguished as a bad guy who's a good bad guy though not in the same way as Count Olaf, for instance.

Vizzini

Vizzini from the Princess Bride is a funny bad guy. He hasn't got style, but he has great lines and a sense of humor. He's favourite word is inconceivable as everyone who has watched the movie knows. He is bossy, very small and very loud. 

This is one of the best scenes before he dies (yes, he dies)  

 "You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha... "

[Vizzini stops suddenly, his smile frozen on his face and falls to the ground dead] 
That scene is soooo funny. if you haven't seen the Princess Bride you probably should go and watch is as it is a very entertaining movie. Just if you watch the parts with Vizzini.

 Snidley Whiplash

 I have been watching Dudley Do-right for years and seriously Snidley is an awesome villian, cool lines, good style, and argues if he's wearing black. (he loves black too) He knows he's the bad guy and loves it. "I love to lurk, it's so me." One of my favourite scenes is with the Choo Choo train (pictured above) is coming and than he's just such a funny bad guy. Plus, Dudley is sooo gullible.....hunting vampires indeed. :P He has a funny voice too and a evil laugh. His dream ahs always been to be "The bad guy"! 

 Sheriff of Nottingham from the BBC Robin Hood.

Yes, he's not the classic Sheriff of Nottingham which makes him unique and he's a little smarter than average (just a tad). His favourite line is "A clue, no." He refers to the people in and around Nottingham as his 'people his dear people" although they are far from dear to him I can tell you. He can't bear to lose any money at all and as usual is always trying to catch Robin hood and his gang. He makes jokes which no one else find funny except himself and he is pretty evil. He lost his sense of humour at the start of the third season though but than, the third season isn't that great either. 

Barbossa

Barbossa is soooo funny. He's a much better villain than Davy Jones. He loves green apples and you can just see how irritated he is when he see's Jack eating the apple right in front of his nose whereas he can't taste it at all. It kind of makes me sad when Jack kills him at the end of the first movie because as he falls you see an apple roll onto the ground beside him.  He has some cool lines such as "Why, thankee Jack." (Jack) "Your Welcome." "Oh, no we named the monkey Jack." See what I mean oh and yes he loves his monkey and his hat. "I'll buy you a hat.....a really big one." (Jack Sparrow) He caused mutiny on the Black Pearl and Jack and him have this thing with "My ship."

You only see him at the end of the second but you do see that he's eating an apple. I remember going to see at the cinemas and seeing Barbossa at the end and being so excited because he was back. "I assure you our intentions are strictly honourable." swords are thrown up between the floorboards and Elizabeth and Barbossa grab them.

(Jack Sparrow) Good man. 'Weigh anchor all hands. Prepare to make sail. 
[takes out compass] 
(Barbossa) [pats the charts in his hands] Jack... Which way ya goin', Jack?"

He's clever, crafty and he has a great skill with the cutlass. He had great lines (examples above)  He wasn't great in the fourth movie though first, because he lost the Pearl, and secondly he has a peg leg which is sooo not Barbossa. 

He probably doesn't count as a villain in the third movie but he does in the first and though he's still a good guy, he's a pirate and is always looking out for his own interests. He has wonderful minions though i.e. Ragetti and Pintel.

All gone!!!

We finished Robin Hood on last Saturday.. It's so sad!! Robin and Guy die! But at least the Sheriff and Isabella got killed.

Did I mention I hate Isabella? Well I do!!! She is evil!! We also missed Marian a lot after she got killed by Guy. So I think that probably the 2nd season is my favorite because 1# Marians in it. 2# Dauq and Will are in it. 3# Robin proposes to Marian in that season. As well I like the 1st season too. The 3rd wasn't as great the best episode I think was probably; The King is dead. Long live the King.

Because Prince Johns in it and he's just so funny!

Will  Because they were my favorite characters too.





I was heartbroken when Alan died. Sure he was a traitor for a bit but didn't he turn good in the end? He was another of my favorite characters.

Robin Hood!

Guess what we watched last night. 

.........Robin Hood BBC series! We watched the 2 first episodes.YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Braedon got them while he was on the mainland on holidays on a little black box which has tons of movies on it! It dosen't connect to the tv though so we have to watch them on the computer. I loved the 2 episodes we watched! I loved

 Robin the most though. So far they are my favorite charcters.There's even a Robin Hood wiki! Now me and Rogan are arguing over which is better Merlin or Robin Hood. I think at the moment that Robin Hood is a teensy wee bit better than Merlin. Hopefully we can watch the next at least 2 episodes tonight. Even as a littler I loved listening and hearing about Robin Hood.


In sort I love Robin Hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
