Guest Post! Kat on How to get your blog out there!

Beautiful

Hi everyone how have you been? So yeah I've been AWHOL a bit but I'm here today to share a guest post that the lovely Kat over at Almost Completely Mad wrote for me. Thank you Kat! :)This is my first ever guest-poster and I'm very excited!
Hi readers of Vellvin’s blog! I’d firstly like to thank Vellvin for letting me guest post here on her awesome blog.
Now, onto what I have to say! I thought that I might write about some of the best things you can do to get your blog OUT THERE!
One. My biggest tip is to visit other people’s blogs! I know this seems like a no brainer, but really it helps a lot. If people see your nice comment on someone’s blogs, they’re likely to go and click onto your blog and visit. Remember to leave a comment though, just following doesn’t do much help unless the author of the blog is always looking at they’re follower’s bar!
Two. Leave a link to your blog in your comments. It doesn't matter if you’ve visited that blog before or if you don’t want to push your blog in people’s faces, leaving a link in a comment is a great way to get people to pop over to your blog. Just seeing your name might not be enough! If you want to learn how to leave a link in a comment, feel free to pop on over to my post over at my own blog, (Almost) Completely Mad.

Three. Write often and with good content. Let’s just say that people don’t want to read a blog if they’re nothing to read. But that doesn’t mean you should write three times and days and extremely long posts! It just means make sure you write regularly, at least three times a week, and that you take some thought over what you write. Ask yourself if you’d read it or if this is the best way to write your post. It’s all about how it’s written.
Four. Have good post titles. A post title is the first thing a person sees of your post, make sure it’s good. I’ve clicked on posts simply for the title before! But if someone just writes ‘untitled’ or leaves the space clear, then I don’t feel like reading so much!
If you’re writing say a fashion post or a lifestyle, something catchy like, ‘Where I Blow Up My Mum’s Hairdryer’ is intriguing, but if you’re writing a tutorial post or a list like this, just write what it is, like, ‘Five Ways to Make Time to Reply to Comments’. That way people know what the post is and they’re sure you are actually talking about that!
Five. Reply to your comments. People are less likely to stop by on a blog whose blogger doesn’t reply to comments. They feel you don’t care if they read or not. By replying to those comments you sound friendly and they want to know you better.
Six. Don’t go overboard on social media. I know everyone says social media is important to blogging, and it is to some extent, but don’t do what I did. I joined everything and couldn’t keep up with it all. Instead, just join a few things and be active on them.
Seven. Show good spirit. Sounding friendly and interested is the best way to get people to like you! Trust me. Everyone wants to know the person who leaves jokes and comments on your blog sounding like they care about what you’ve written, but no one wants to know the person who moans and laughs at what you say. Remember that!
Eight. Be yourself. Enjoy blogging and what you write. Don’t copy, write your own things. You’re unique and so act it!
I hope this helps you get your blog out there!
If you’re interested, you can find me over at my blog, (Almost) Completely Mad, or twitter where I’m normally writing really random things that have nothing to do with anything!

something wonderful

Thanks so much for guest-posting Kat! I really need to work on five. I'm pretty bad when it comes to that. :) Oh and I love eight! :D

Person of Interest....Our current obsession.

Hello guys how have you all been? I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and new year. :) I did.
Anyway, I don't know how many of you remember but a while back I did a blog post on the Disney themed birthday party I went to, it was my friend Mabel's actually. And I've been at her house the past few days doing stuff together because it's holiday. :) And that has included watching 'Person of Interest' which we have both decided is awesome. I introduced it to Mabel and she likes a lot.
Mabel is blue I'm red.

Say hi Mabel! :)

Hi everyone :)

So today we're talking about Person of interest which I think is probably my favourite tv show after Sherlock. And yeah, that's what we're doing.
And yeah lots of spoilers btw.

So far we've only watched 8 episodes, but they've been amazing!!!

Two words. Jonathan. Nolan. Basically the guy who absolutely adores putting twists in everything. True story. :)

It's basically about a ex army/special forces guy, named John Reese (and he's supposed to be dead).

And his association with a guy by the name of Harold Finch. (Don't tell him I told you that he's a very private person. :P ) (And he's supposed to be dead too.

So, Mr. Finch built a machine that would find potential terrorist attacks so that they could stop them before they happened. But it started picking up not only on terrorist attacks that would happen but also anyone involved or about to be involved in situations that would threaten someones life. Finch separated the names into two different lists. Relevant and irrelevant.

So the relevant list was only for potential terrorist attacks but the irrelevant list was for anyone involved in criminal intent, perpetrator or victim.

And the authorities don't do anything about the irrelevant list, in fact they don't even know that Finch still has access to it, but seeing as he built it he made himself a back door. And the irrelevant list haunts him, because he can't do anything about it by himself.

So Finch finds Reese and hires him (after freaking him out a bit). to save the people on the irrelevant list. Finch also helps Reese with info on people and hacks places for the information they need at the time

Anway, in the first episode just before Reese meets Finch he ends up at the police station in trouble for bashing up some guys who were being really rude and irritating :) And he's marked a duhduhlah! Person of Interest. :)

Which sets Detective Carter on his trail. Now, Carter becomes totally obsessed with finding this vigilante (in a suit) who tends to interfere (help) with some of her cases. She's a by the books person too, but still a good character.

Meanwhile Reese gets an inside man, Detective Lionel Fusco. Who Reese blackmailed into giving him info on police reports and anything else he can think of, and keeping an eye on Carter for him.
Lionel Fusco was a crooked cop, he worked for and with fellow crooked cops in drug dealing, lying in court, ect. he's weak and easily manipulated, although we believe that under it all he has a good heart (as he shows in episode 5)

A new gang comes to town and nobody knows what the leader looks like, all they know is that his name is Elias. We do now! Mindblown! :D

Each episode there's new characters, which keeps it fresh, and interesting. :)

Basically if you haven't watched this T.V. show your missing out on soooooooo much! I'm already starting to obsess over it and I've only watched eight episodes so far.
What do you think, Mabel?

Well you know how quickly I start to obsess, but this is quick, even for me!!

And there is four seasons 'hint hint nudge nudge kick kick shove shove'

Yay, something for me to watch while I wait for Sherlock season 4!

Totally agree. :) Okay, bye guys! and remeber what we said, watch it. ITSSSSSSS GOOD!! :)

BYE!!!

God Bless,
Vellvin and Mabel

April Movie Quote Quiz, and yes, I skipped March....

The Rules: 1. Don't look any of the quotes up on the internet, or any other "looking-up" device.
2. Submit your answers in a comment on this post. You may submit as many comments as you need to, depending on when you remember the different quotes.
3. You score one point for every correct answer you submit -that's telling me what movie the quote is from- and you can also earn an extra point by telling me who said the quote!
4. You MAY ask immediate family members (parents, siblings, pets, etc.) for help and you MAY watch a movie again to see if one of the quotes is in it (of course, that would probably be a waste of time, but whatever :P

1.  "I'm sticking it out." "And I say we go back to the woods." "No, not on your life." "That boy's got to have an education. He has a future. "Well, you may be right. A skinny kid like that would make a cracking good chimney sweep."

2. "But I just adore everything Persian." "You've been to Persia, then?" "Yes, a hundred times. Along with St. Petersburg, Paris, Middle-Earth, distant planets and Shangri-la. And I never had to leave this room. Books are adventure. They contain murder and mayhem and passion. They love anyone who opens them."

3. "Shut the window. That bird is giving me a headache." "Yes sir. You're giving the master a headache."

4."Wait a minute. (name) steals money from my pocket, forcing me to hurt the public, and they love him for it? That's it then. Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans, no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas."
This is probably one that not many people will get so I'll give you a hint: It's from one of the Robin Hood adaptions.

5. "Good Arm!" "And, such lovely, flowing locks."

6. "Surrender." "You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept."

7. "Travelers of (name), I am your guide." "You are most beautiful." "If it is a distraction for you, I-I can change forms." "Noo!"

8."Great Scotland Yard! That's extraordinary!" "What is?" "Worthington's having a half-price sale on bowler hats!" "Really, (name!) This is hardly the time..." "Great Scotland Yard!" "What is it?" "Canes are half-price too!"

9. "What are you girls doing?" "We're trying to get the funny man out of the well!" "Trying to get the funny man out of the well. Well, that's one I've never heard before."

10. "Do you think we'll meet some savages?" "If we do, we shall be sure to give them a proper English greeting. "Ooh, gift baskets!"

It ends Tuesday 15th! Have fun! :D

Robin Hood Week: The Tag

So I AM a bit late but I wanted to participate in Eva's 'Robin Hood week' over at Ramblings of a Janeite.
To start it off here is the Robin Hood tag! :D

How where you introduced to the story/character of Robin Hood? Robin Hood has always been a part of my life. We had a story tape of Robin Hood (the original stories) which we would listen to in our cassette player and I loved it. My other introduction was when I was even littler than that and we bought the cartoon Disney Robin Hood. It became my favourite cartoon and I watched it all the time. But Robin Hood has just basically been around always. :) What's your favorite book or film adaption of Robin Hood?
I've seen a few adaptions of Robin Hood on film. The Adventures of Robin Hood which we basically watched with a commentary of criticism throughout (yeah we do that when we don't like a movie :) ) the most weird thing was that Robin was wearing tights with sequins, I mean sooooo medieval England, right? :P As I mentioned before I've seen the Disney Robin Hood many, many times, the first half is better than the second half as it gets a bit boring. I sort of watched the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves movie with Kevin Costner but I closed my eyes whenever the witch was around, and it wasn't that great. I have also seen the BBC Robin Hood and I have got to say that that is the BEST version of all, though I hate it how Marian gets killed, they could've just killed of King Richard, right? It was not as nearly enjoyable in the third series, I did cry when Robin died. :( *sniff* BBC is awesome anyway!I do not have any intention of seeing the Robin Hood: Men in Tights or the 2010 movie, Robin Hood.My favourite book adapation is the Robert Lancelyn Green, though I have read the Howard Pyle one, and a few others.

What's you favorite Robin Hood story or legend? Probably the rescue of Will Scarlet from hanging
Who's your favorite character? From what version? I love Robin, Marian, Will Scarlet and Little John from the original stories, Robin and Little John and Maid Marian from the cartoon, and ummm, so many characters from BBC Robin Hood. And I'm an Allan defender, just so you know. :P
Who's your least favorite character? Guy of Gisbourne and the Prioress if we are going from the legends, BBC T.V. show, Isabella (Isasmella as we call her) and Kate.
What was the last Robin Hood-related thing you watched/read? BBC Robin Hood last night! The last thing I read was (I think) a little bit of my own Robin Hood story: Outlaw
What is your favorite Robin Hood-related quote? Umm, can't think of any at the moment.
Oh, I know! 'WE ARE ROBIN HOOD!'

How would you rate your obsession with Robin Hood from 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest)? 8 I would think!

I had great fun doing this, and adding the pictures,  if you would like to see some more posts on Robin Hood hop over to Eva's blog.

God Bless

Different words for different things

Listening to Rangers Apprentice: Halt's Peril and loving how cool and calm Will can be and how Halt say he's a 'wonderful conversationalist.' :D
Wanting to watch Batman Begins after Saxon told me the ENTIRE story-line. And I don't mind that he did and he loved telling it too!
Reading The Shining Company by Rosemary Sutcliff and really liking it.
Walking outside in the morning on an exercise walk
Plotting out more of my Robin Hood story titled 'Outlaw'

Being reminded of Samwise the Brave's words to Frodo Baggins: "That there's some good in this world; and its worth fighting for.
Enjoying doing some embroidery which I haven't done for a while
Missing my biggest sister at College and seeing that I need to also deepen the relationships with my Dad and Mum and siblings at home as well.

Regretting the fact that I missed wishing Pope Benedict Emeritus a happy birthday on his birthday. Happy late Birthday Emeritus, we love you!!! :)
Enjoying looking up the Battle of Trafalgar for school because I am doing a study on the British Navy for History. And just seeing how awesome the Royal British Navy was. Oh, yeah, and I want to see the Victory at Portsmouth one day. :)
Being sad because I realised that there is only going to be one more Rangers Apprentice book and thinking of a tribute post which I would like to do on October 1st when it comes out.
And the humour in them is awesome :)
Also my day dream to have John Flanagan sign my books of his which would be just awesome. Yes, and I did mention Rangers Apprentice twice in this post but hey, who's counting?
Waiting, for the Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey to be released on DVD only about two more weeks! :D
Also I love this quote. :)
Planning blog posts like the best musuicals and stuff like but also because though I mean not to be offensive,

I am so sick of people misunderstanding the Catholic Faith and what it stands for that I am going to do a blog post (or a series of blog posts) on the Catholic Faith titled "An Introduction to Catholicism'

Finding things funny. Here is a funny story about Pope Francis and the Swiss Guard that was guarding his door:

The surprising greatness of this new Pope Francis is in the small things. For example, the ability to say, “Brothers and sisters, good evening,” instead of appealing to the centuries, the Scriptures or the universe to present himself to the world. To wear an iron cross of instead of a golden one. To wash the feet of the prisoners.

Or yet, to care for the Swiss Guard who guards the door of his apartment in Casa Santa Marta every night until dawn.

A few days ago, at dawn, the time the Pope wakes up, he came out to the corridor, and he found in front of his door the sentry, a Swiss Guard standing with his halberd at attention.

He asked him: “And what are you doing here? Have you been up all night?”
"Yes," replied the guard with deference and a bit surprised.
"On your feet?"
"Your Holiness, my duty since I took over from my companion."
 "And aren’t you tired?"
"It’s my duty Your Holiness; I should watch for your safety."
Pope Francis looked at him again with kindness, went back to his suite and after a minute he came out carrying a chair:
"At least sit down and rest." The guard rolled his eyes and answered: “Santo Padre, forgive me, but I cannot! The regulations do not allow that."
"The regulations?"
"Orders from my captain, Your Holiness."
The Pope smiled, "Oh, really? Well, I'm the Pope and I order you to sit down."
So, caught between the regulations and the Pope, the Swiss Guard (so much for the halberd) chose the chair.
The Pope returned to his apartment.
After a couple of minutes, the Pope came back to the Swiss Guard, still obediently seated on the chair, carrying “panino con marmellata” (Italian bread with jam) which he had prepared.
Before the soldier could say anything, the Holy Father, exhibiting his Argentinean smile, told the Swiss Guard, “With all the hours spent standing on guard you must be a bit hungry.”
The Swiss Guard had no time to object because the Pope right away wished him a good bite: "Bon appetit, brother."

He is just such a nice Holy Father! :D

God Bless
