Who will join me?

Who will join me in praying for Christians in the middle east? In Iraq? Because they certainly need all the prayers they can get.

If you want more information you can probably Google it. Once again this is something that is not getting on the news and it's up to us to spread the news and to pray.

Oh Lord deliver your children from harm. Watch over guide and protect them and let them get to safety! Oh Jesus protect us all! Amen.
And remember wherever you are God is watching over you!

A mini (or not so mini) review of Maleficent from a die-hard Disney fan of Sleeping Beauty

I thought I would like to write a mini review on Maleficent seeing as I went and saw it with Autumn and Eden on Monday night.
Now, you should know....Sleeping Beauty has always been my favourite Disney Princess movie. Until Tangled came out. Then Tangled replaced it but out of the classics, it has always been my favourite. I remember getting it on video for my sixth birthday after Mum had searched and searched for it, she almost didn't find it. Except she went shopping for groceries and found it at Woolies. And she found it! :D So I was one happy little girl.
Spoilers ahead guys! :D

In the past two years there have been two movies that I've watched are Maleficent and Snow White and the Huntsman. They both had their good points, but they also had their bad points.
Also, take note that I knew what happened at the end, as I read spoilers beforehand. :P
Bad points:
Maleficent has garned a 45 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
pixies maleficent poster

And I can understand that. I found that it switched from scenes that were light and humorous (with the fairies) mostly, to rather dark, scary, music based scenes that I found rather dark. I probably would have been better if I was home watching it on our T.V. but seeing as it wasn't, I was quite a bit freaked out. Maleficent is originally (Disney version) a very scary villain and it proved to be so. Until she started turning good. King Stefan was an absolutely horrible guy who needed a mother 'very, very badly' I feel like such a film critic because, I was thinking during/after the end finale when there's the fight/battle 'They could have put some really epic lines into that to make it a bit more wowish.' But they didn't. It was simply fighting. And then Stefan died! Hooray!
Some of the start of the storyline was 'typical' stuff. True love's kiss on her sixteenth birthday blah blah blah.......
I found just the character Maleficent, from about the time Stefan cuts off  her wings, to when she starts to soften with Aurora, a very dark character and I found her magic scary as well. But that's really no different to the Disney movie (once again) except that that was cartoon, so it was a little less worrisome. And it didn't have such loud music.

Stefan I hate. It's good that you died. And you don't slap fairies. No matter how angry you get!
My other big problem with the movie is I'll probably never be able to listen to 'Once Upon a Dream' the Disney version without thinking of the terrible (Autumn classed it as jazz) version that plays at the credits and I don't think that I'll ever be able to watch my favourite Princess movie (one of them, that is) without thinking of the large differences between the two movies.
Sooooooooooooo irresponsible!
Oh! And the fairies! How horrible can you be and you should soooooooo totally not be looking after a baby if you don't even know how to feed it! Of course, that and the fact that this beautiful little baby just had a curse laid upon it actually got me started thinking about abortion and how people don't want little babies. And so that was actually making me a bit teary and upset. Plus, they were rather pettish. Mostly there for comic relief.
On the bright side:
I enjoyed seeing Maleficent as a little girl and the fairy folk of the moors were nice, too.

I really did like Aurora although, she was a little 'airy-fairy' but she also played her part beautifully and how she thought Maleficent was her Godmother? Such a good idea. :)
My favourite character: Diaval! Maleficent's shape-shifting raven. He was so tender-hearted and sweet. And some of the stuff he says really made me laugh, like when they're lugging Prince Phillip all over the place. :)
I wish that there had been more of Prince Phillip in this. Now, I'm one of those people who simply hates! those stupid romances in movies that they squeeze in because they simply have to have a romantic kiss at the end, even if there seems no real point to it because there was no character-building between the couple.

That's what it was like in a lot of movies. Seeing as he didn't end up breaking the curse (I told you there were spoilers) I was glad when he showed up at the end because it looked like he and Aurora might actually take it a little more slow but still end up together! :D I wouldn't describe him as handsome, but more like cute. I wasn't sure that he was even going to turn up! but I think when he did I started smiling. :D
Maleficent was an alright character but her best parts were with Aurora. :)
Like this first one. :)
What else should I talk about before I finish this? It's a dark movie. If and when we get it on DVD Rogan won't be watching it because it is rather dark.
I think all three of us girls were getting a bit teary at the end. It was awesome because we were the only people in the cinema so we could discuss it as we watched and Autumn and Eden did a capital job asking me if I was alright. :)
So in short: My favourite Princess movie was ruined. But not entirely. It was ok. But not terrific. I wouldn't go and see it at the cinema again, but I'd maybe watch it when it comes out on DVD.
So that's my rather mixed up opinion on Maleficent everybody! I hope you enjoyed reading my ramblings! :D
Anyway I'd better go.

God Bless

July Movie Quote Quiz Results

You all might be wondering why I'm publishing this on Friday when I said the deadline was Tuesday. I only logical answer is I got all the results, I wrote the blog post and I wanted to publish it, so here it is:
NOTE: My brother Saxon after looking at responses of the quiz suggested.that instead of  this rule:
I am the judge, some of the answers that people give are some times rather obscure and hard to work out. I reserve the right to judge if they got the point (for the people or movie it doesn't matter).

That I would replace it with this one: You get a point for each person that you say is talking and also, what the movie is. For example: "For a second there, I actually thought you were gonna eat me." "I don't eat junk food." The movie is Ice Age and the characters talking are Sid and Diego. BUT if you said Sid talking to someone else, and the movie, you would only get two points.
Sounds easy? I hope so. It certainly makes things easier for me! This rule is being used on this movie quote quiz and hereafter. I'm sorry I didn't think of it earlier because it makes the answers so much easier to discern.

This months answers were so much fun! :D And so many people participated. Thank you, to everyone who did! :D
Just the person's name in the section, people who got it right, means they got one point, two is indicated by a star on each side of the person's name, and three by two stars either side. Hope that helps. :)

July Movie Quote Quiz Edition.

So yes, I skipped June. It was just very busy. On a side note, today is Braedon and Anna-Lisa's first anniversary! Congratulations!
Have fun with this movie quote quiz, guys! :) I would add a couple of pictures but I'm off to watch Ever After so I'll just leave you all with this and the movie quote quiz:

The Rules:
1. Don't look any of the quotes up on the internet, or any other "looking-up" device.
2. Submit your answers in a comment on this post. You may submit as many comments as you need to, depending on when you remember the different quotes.
3. You score one point for every correct answer you submit -that's telling me what movie the quote is from- and you can also earn an extra point by telling me who said the quote!
4. You MAY ask immediate family members (parents, siblings, pets, etc.) for help and you MAY watch a movie again to see if one of the quotes is in it (of course, that would probably be a waste of time, but whatever :P Three new rules I have added:
5. I am the judge, some of the answers that people give are some times rather obscure and hard to work out. I reserve the right to judge if they got the point (for the people or movie it doesn't matter).
6. If you say the characters, but not the movie, you still get a point.
7. Have fun!

1. "Tell me, Prince (name)..."
"King."
"I beg your pardon." It's King(name), actually. Just King, though. (name's) the High King. I know, it's confusing."

2. "You and a syringe against the Capitol? See, this is why no one lets you make the plans."

3. "Remember when I made you ride the Cyclone on Coney Island? Yeah, and I threw up? This isn't payback, is it? Now why would I do that?"

4. "Lost, lost, lost." "Lost what?" "I've lost my marbles."

5. "It's the dress. You'll have to put on another one before you meet the children."
"But I don't have another one. When we entered the abbey our worldly clothes were given to the poor." "What about this one?"
"The poor didn't want this one."

6. "I was quite taken by that one."
"That's (name)! That's my sister. She's completely bald in front."

7. "For a second there, I actually thought you were gonna eat me."
"I don't eat junk food."

8. "Have you any last words before I dispatch you?"
"You have got to be kidding me!"
"Strange words!"

9. "It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting *ideas*, and *thinking*.."

10. "All right, that's enough! Look, we're all very impressed with (name)'s new toy. "Toy?" "T-O-Y, Toy!" "Excuse me, I think the word you're searching for is "Space Ranger"." "The word I'm searching for I can't say because there's preschool toys present."

It ends Tuesday 15th of July. Enjoy! :D

The Warm Hugs tag....sort of.

Hi guys! :)
Arda tagged me with the Warm Hugs Tag if I wanted to do it, seeing as the questions were interesting and I thought I would enjoy it, I decided to go ahead and do it. :)

The rules:
1. Follow the blog that tagged you (optional).
2. Include two or more pictures that include your favorite characters, books, movies, or lyrics from songs (they can also be your own edits or pictures).
3. Tag five or more bloggers and tell them.
I found this just now. Not in the movie but isn't it a great picture?
That's one.

That's two.

4. Answer the blogger’s ten questions related to characters, books, movies, or lyrics.
5. Create your own questions having to do with the same thing.

1. Do you listen to any podcasts?
No, not really. I tried to listen to the first one over at JandProdcutions when James was doing them but honestly, I did not really have something else to do while I was listening to it, and I prefer to listen and do something at the same time. What can I say, I multi task.

2. At what point did you know you were into your main fandom(s)?
The point when I was basically photo-bombing my blog with pictures of them. :) And thinking about them, like a lot and obsessing over them. :)

3. What are you currently reading and/or watching?

I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy. I am now reading Little Men. It is sooooo good! I've been watching Season 2 of Arrow. But have decided that I'm going to be steering clear of that for a while.
Hopefully tonight we'll be watching The Hunger Games. :)

4. Writing in books - yes or no? Absolutely! My name and when I got it. If it is a gift from someone I'll write who it is from. :)

5. Who is the funniest character you like?
Umm, hard question. Percy Jackson comes to mind. Yep, probably Percy Jackson. Because the books are from a first person perspective and the way he describes things and his attitudes toward some people/creatures is hysterical.
This is my personal favourite:
“A demigod!" one snarled. "Eat it!" yelled another. But that's as far as they got before I slashed a wide arc with Riptide and vaporized the entire front row of monsters. "Back off!" I yelled at the rest, trying to sound fierce. Behind them stood their instructor--a six-foot tall telekhine with Doberman fangs snarling at me. I did my best to stare him down.
"New lesson, class," I announced. "Most monsters will vaporize when sliced with a celestial bronze sword. This change is completely normal, and will happen to you right now if you don't BACK OFF!" To my surprise, it worked. The monsters backed off, but there was at least twenty of them. My fear factor wasn't going to last that long. I jumped out of the cart, yelled, "CLASS DISMISSED!" and ran for the exit.”
See what I mean. :)

6. What is your favorite soundtrack?
I ADORE soundtracks. Probably the one I currently really, really love is the soundtrack from The Last Samurai. It is a soundtrack which is very easy to just fade into and lose track of where you are up to but it it also very nice. Plus it runs for about an hour and is perfect for listening to when doing an hour-long subject. I also enjoy listening to it while writing. Great mood music.

7. Do you like to reread/rewatch things?
Yes, sometimes I over re-read things. And then they get dull. Then they go to the back of my book case so that next time I get them out they'll be as interesting as they used to be. As to re-watching things. Yes, as long as I'm in the mood. I've been wanting to re-watch LOTR for a while now. The problem is no one else has been that interested in the idea.

8. What character inspires you the most?
I don't know. At the moment I'd say a very inspiring character is Peeta Mallerk from The Hunger Games. Or it might just be that I am currently very much liking him...like a lot. He is definitely up on my Heroes list. He is amazing. :)

9. What is a smaller or lesser-known fandom you think is great? The Fairy-Tale novels! They are amazing re-tellings of fairy tales set in modern days by Regina Doman. Fish is amazing too.

10. What movies are you still looking forward to this year?
There are only a few but here goes: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay part one, and Night at the Museum three.

The tagging part:
Honestly I just wanted to answer the questions mostly and seriously I'm feeling lazy and really don't want to tag anyone or make ten questions. Yep, lazy me. :)
