What I've been reading, listening and watching........lately

Hi everyone.
Well, holidays are almost finished here. Which means that next week we're back to school. In some ways I'm happy and in other ways I'm sad. I'm glad that we'll have a routine more so than we have had in the holidays. But I'm sad because the holidays are really slow days which actually go quickly. :) Anyway, that wasn't the reason I'm writing this post so I'll just get to the point. I'd like to share what I've been doing, as the title suggests, so here we go.

I haven't been reading that much,. *shock gasp horror* I know, it's just that I've been watching a lot of stuff. The few things I have been reading are:

Return of the King. This being only a little bit. I'm up to the 'Field of Cormallen' but as I've said I have only read a tiny bit of it. I'm so proud that I'm going so well with it. :)

Castaways in Time: The After Cilmeri series book six. This is another time-traveling book which is highly enjoyable. It is what I would term more lighter reading. Still, if you are in the mood for medieval times, welsh characters and an interesting story-line I then  go for it! It is a bit more adulty though, here and there. My favourite is still Prince of Time, but any of the series is good. :)

Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus. So this is probably the one I've been focusing on most. I don't know how many of you remember Mabel, but she finished House of Hades and then she said she reckoned she'd finish it before I did. And being the none competitive person that I am, I agreed. NOT. So now I'm pretty confident I'll finish it before her. :) It's true I'm enjoying reading it, it's better than the Lost Hero but it still cannot beat Son of Neptune or Mark of Athena and the reason I'm saying it is not better than House of Hades is because there are actual Percy and Annabeth points of view in them whereas we have in Blood of Olympus:
Jason = Dull
Piper = Alright
Leo = Funny
Nico = Good
Reyna = Good.
Whereas if we had Percy's point of view I'd rate it as:
Percy = Awesome. :)
It's a good book it's just not as enjoyable because Percy gets shoved to the back as a secondary character. And because it needs to be said: Percy Jackson is way better than Jason Grace. Seriously, he is. :)

What I've been listening to.
So Autumn showed me this video the other week and so now I have it on my I-Pod and I've been listening to it a lot.
It's called 'I'm so Catholic'. You won't get it unless your Catholic though. Oh, and I can sing some of it, too.
But recently as in since about Thursday I've been listening to two other songs more, they are:
Hooked on a Feeling
Come and Get Your Love. Honestly if I didn't have Hooked on a Feeling off GOTG I'd say that it was junk. :) I'm just loving listening to these two, I hope that the sequel has more of these kind of songs (as in the Awesome Mix 2).
Weird Al Yankovic. He is so funny with his parodies. The one that I've been listening to the most is:
Ode to a Superhero
Anthem Lights. Saxon got me the album 'You have my Heart' and my two favourtie songs of it are
Dear Hollywood and Closer than the Angels.
'Dear Hollywood' just seems so true to life and 'Closer than the Angels' makes me feel happy. :)
I've added a healthy dose of Brandon Heath and then yeah, that's what I've been listening to.

Now onto watching.....This is fun. :D

I've started watching Sherlock with Rogan as he now has permission to watch it! He really likes it. :) We've only watched 'A Study in Pink' and 'The Blind Banker' so far. Hopefully we'll be watching 'The Great Game' tonight. :) He can't decide if he likes Sherlock or John better. :) And he loved the whole John-being-Sherlock-mix-up in episode two.
I've also watched some Gilmore Girls but now after some thinking on it, I don';t want to continue watching the series anymore. Just a bit more than I want as once again, it's a bit more older. Oh, and can you guess what I've mostly been watching?

THIS! TADA!!! :D I am just so totally loving it! I think I might like it better than Sherlock. :) Or at least there even. It's been so much fun watching Person of Interest because My Dad likes it and Rogan can watch it too, which means that we've all been watching it together. :) And the characters are now so dear to me. John, Harold, Carter and Fusco. And we're just on season 2. And John rescued Harold and Root is such a good bad guy and I have no idea what is going to happen next! Oh and we haven't heard anything from Elias in a while and what is Kara doing back and Fusco and Carter know they're on the same side. And John and Harold are really good friends and John's got a dog and Harold's reaction to it was so sweet. :) It's all just, so very, very, good. And as you can see I'm fangirling. :)

Anyway I'd better go. :)

God Bless

Person of Interest....Our current obsession.

Hello guys how have you all been? I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and new year. :) I did.
Anyway, I don't know how many of you remember but a while back I did a blog post on the Disney themed birthday party I went to, it was my friend Mabel's actually. And I've been at her house the past few days doing stuff together because it's holiday. :) And that has included watching 'Person of Interest' which we have both decided is awesome. I introduced it to Mabel and she likes a lot.
Mabel is blue I'm red.

Say hi Mabel! :)

Hi everyone :)

So today we're talking about Person of interest which I think is probably my favourite tv show after Sherlock. And yeah, that's what we're doing.
And yeah lots of spoilers btw.

So far we've only watched 8 episodes, but they've been amazing!!!

Two words. Jonathan. Nolan. Basically the guy who absolutely adores putting twists in everything. True story. :)

It's basically about a ex army/special forces guy, named John Reese (and he's supposed to be dead).

And his association with a guy by the name of Harold Finch. (Don't tell him I told you that he's a very private person. :P ) (And he's supposed to be dead too.

So, Mr. Finch built a machine that would find potential terrorist attacks so that they could stop them before they happened. But it started picking up not only on terrorist attacks that would happen but also anyone involved or about to be involved in situations that would threaten someones life. Finch separated the names into two different lists. Relevant and irrelevant.

So the relevant list was only for potential terrorist attacks but the irrelevant list was for anyone involved in criminal intent, perpetrator or victim.

And the authorities don't do anything about the irrelevant list, in fact they don't even know that Finch still has access to it, but seeing as he built it he made himself a back door. And the irrelevant list haunts him, because he can't do anything about it by himself.

So Finch finds Reese and hires him (after freaking him out a bit). to save the people on the irrelevant list. Finch also helps Reese with info on people and hacks places for the information they need at the time

Anway, in the first episode just before Reese meets Finch he ends up at the police station in trouble for bashing up some guys who were being really rude and irritating :) And he's marked a duhduhlah! Person of Interest. :)

Which sets Detective Carter on his trail. Now, Carter becomes totally obsessed with finding this vigilante (in a suit) who tends to interfere (help) with some of her cases. She's a by the books person too, but still a good character.

Meanwhile Reese gets an inside man, Detective Lionel Fusco. Who Reese blackmailed into giving him info on police reports and anything else he can think of, and keeping an eye on Carter for him.
Lionel Fusco was a crooked cop, he worked for and with fellow crooked cops in drug dealing, lying in court, ect. he's weak and easily manipulated, although we believe that under it all he has a good heart (as he shows in episode 5)

A new gang comes to town and nobody knows what the leader looks like, all they know is that his name is Elias. We do now! Mindblown! :D

Each episode there's new characters, which keeps it fresh, and interesting. :)

Basically if you haven't watched this T.V. show your missing out on soooooooo much! I'm already starting to obsess over it and I've only watched eight episodes so far.
What do you think, Mabel?

Well you know how quickly I start to obsess, but this is quick, even for me!!

And there is four seasons 'hint hint nudge nudge kick kick shove shove'

Yay, something for me to watch while I wait for Sherlock season 4!

Totally agree. :) Okay, bye guys! and remeber what we said, watch it. ITSSSSSSS GOOD!! :)

BYE!!!

God Bless,
Vellvin and Mabel

Arrow

Arrow is one of the few T.V. shows made recently that I like to watch. If it hadn't of been for Saxon discovering and wanting Mum to preview them for him, we never would have watched them. But now we have, and you could say we think they are pretty awesome.

What's it about? Basically it's about this guy named Oliver Queen who got shipwrecked on an island for five years before begin rescued. During this time he learned many lessons about survival, and basically who to trust and who not to trust. You see a small bit of his journey on the island in pretty much every episode. He also became a rather good marksman with the bow at the same time. :)
Anyway he returns to Starling City, determined to make a difference. And he does.
Now, some people would say that sounds a lot like Batman, it kind of is and it kind of isn't. For one. Oliver actually has a much more violent way of dealing with obstinate crooks. He gives them one chance, and then well good nightey! Whereas Batman has the rule of 'no killing'. And also the help of the police. Not so Oliver. There is one man who is absolutely obsessed with capturing the vigilante, and seriously, he can be so irritating.
During all of his adventures the lives of his family, friends and colleagues have interesting twists and turns, and are constantly intertwined with his missions. Why don't I introduce you to the characters?

Oliver Queen
Oliver Queen. Now, going back to the flashbacks on the island I can pretty much say only one word: Woos! I mean seriously when he got there he had no idea of how to look after himself and no idea of who to trust either.
But then, in the present time, you see how different he is, how confident, smart and downright able he is to handle most any situation and bring a good outcome out of it at the same time. Also, he is one of the best liars ever, I sort of believed him when he told Laurel that he wasn't the vigilante because it was so convincing.
Oliver is one of my favourtie characters out of Arrow. He can be a bit arrogant and not listen to advice because he thinks he knows best, but he comes around, eventually, which is a good thing, believe me. :)
John Diggle
Okay, everybody moving on. Here's Diggle. First assigned to be Oliver's bodyguard (you have to watch the episode to understand why). He then quits, and instead after Oliver shows him who he is, after some soul-searching, joins him. He was an army man and he knows what war does to people, and what he wants to do, besides ladle out some justice by helping Oliver, is making sure that Oliver behaves as a man taking on such a responsibility should. And also, to not turn into a man who he himself is trying to stop. Diggle is sweet, compassionate and loyal, if you had it at your back, then that's a good thing. Even though he and Oliver disagree sometimes, they always end up buddies at the end.
That bit! :)
Now, moving on to one of my other number one characters, well have....Felicity Smoak.
Felicity Smoak
We are first introduced to Ms. Smoak as the IT girl who Walter asks to investigate some computer transactions for him. But after that we see more and more of her. She's innocent, sweet and surprisingly sturdy, though a bit awkward. And she's not dumb. :) She joins the team with Oliver and Diggle and it's really nice to have her there to. She can hack whereas Oliver and Diggle would have no idea how to do such a thing. And sometimes, if you are a vigilante, or working with one, it's kind of nice to have some inside information wich someone helpfully got for you.

And look! Is she enthusiastic about her work or what?

Laurel Lance
Laurel is a rather main character. She was in a relationship with Oliver before he left on the cruise, but I'd rather not talk about that, as some of is just isn't pleasant, nor becoming to talk about. Basically she's a lawyer (I think) or something like that. And she's always trying to get the bad guys where they are suppose to go. She's a realist and but is also very passionate about what she believes. She is also a good mentor to Thea and she is also one of my favourtie characters. :)

Thea Queen
Now, if anyone had a complicated life, it's Thea Queen. She grew up from the age of twelve to almost eighteen, believing that both her father and brother were shipwrecked at sea and died. Because of this she tends to act rather immature and childish, and does things so that she can just get some attention. But mostly what she just needs is someone who will listen, and try to understand her.

Moira Queen/Steele
Okay, Oliver's and Thea's Mum. In the words of Little John from Robin Hood: 'I do not like.' She just seems to have turned around, and acted a bit better when, boom! something happens and nothing changes. One of my favourtie bits is when Diggle and Oliver pretend that Oliver and his mother are both kidnapped so that they can get an answer out of her. She does have her good points, and at the end of Season 1 I was very satisfied with what she did, and she knew it was the right choice, too.

Tommy Merlyn
Tommy is Oliver's best friend. He's irresponsible and sometimes just doesn't think straight. He feels really hurt because his father never really seemed to care about him, and because of this, he has not interest with interacting with his father. He did turn bad guy for a bit, but at the end of Season 1, he was redeemed, in the best possible way ever.

Walter Steele
I LOVE WALTER!!! Okay, well at first, I didn't, I thought he was a bad guy, but really he grew on me. He really is a very responsible guy. And tries to be understanding and kind to both Thea and Oliver (more so Thea) as he married their mother. He's not stupid though, and it's through him that we first meet Felicity Smoak. At the end of Season 1 he was really angry with Moira, and we have no idea how that will shape up. He's a very nice guy, Walter is. :)

Malcolm Merlyn
Okay, so Malcolm, well you're horrible. Nuff' said.
Quentin Lance
Okay, so Quentin is the policeman with the problem with Arrow. He is OBSESSED with getting him behind bars. He's also Laurel's Dad and sometimes the ways he tries to trap Arrow and the devices are not what she appreciates or likes. I pity him, really. He had a lot of the people he loved torn from him. But I've heard some spoilers about him for Season 2 and it sounds like he just might be getting better. :)

Slade Wilson
Slade! Slade! Slade! Basically Oliver's mentor on the island. An Australian and part of the ASIS (Australian Secret Intelligence Service) He's rough, unforgiving when Oliver fails something he set him, and stern. All in all just the kind of mentor the at this point sissy Oliver needed.

And before I finish the characters there's one more which you should know about..Helena.

Basically one big word to describe Helena: GOGETYOUSELFRUNOVERBYACAR'KAY?

Now, it's a modern T.V. show, okay. Which means that some morality is thrown out the window, which I do not appreciate. It can be quite violent and some things (like the Vertigo and it's affect on people) can be rather disturbing. There were a few bits where I covered my eyes, and possibly a few references put here and there through the episodes. I wouldn't recommend it to pepole nder the age of fifteen, because of some of the stuff in it.
My overall reaction to this T.V. show, however, even though, yes, some parts of it are questionable, is that I look forward to Season 2 and when it is released on DVD. In the meantime, well I'd better go and see what is happening and hope that Season 2 lives up to my expectations. :)

A heads up!

I was going back through my films and t.v. shows and I noticed that some of them might need revamping, and some I haven't even posted about, or if I have, they were when I started blogging. (five years in September) and so are different from how I feel now or how I would format them. Anyway, so I want to present you with a list of ones which I'd like to do, and if you would be so kind as to comment as to which you'd be most interested in seeing, I'll post them. Of course, if no one tells me their preference I'll simply post whichever I like. :)

Hogan's Heroes. One of my all time favourite T.V. shows set in WWII, I did a blog post on this but it was one of my first ever, and I'd like to do another on it.

Arrow. About a vigilante, basically a mix of Batman and Iron Man but the episodes are well done and are quite addictive.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The best musical ever! If you don't like it then well, I don't know what to say to you.....
Yes, I know it's a desktop background but it's really cool!
BBC Robin Hood series. Looking back, I want to do this again, I love the TV show, but sadly we don't have all of them on DVD, but the third season is the worst! The first two, awesome the third, *shudders*

The Scarlet Pimpernel. I love this movie! It's amazing based of Baroness Orczy's two novels, Eldorado and The Scarlet Pimpernel, I simply adore it, although the middle is a bit draggy at times. :)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I saw this last week and am currently working on a post (sort of) I thought it was really good! :D

Hornblower. This is also definitely coming. It's going to be a joint post of mine and Rogan's, we watched one of them the other night and they are just so well made and really cool!

Anyway I'd better go, I hope you are all enjoying Easter day! :)

Recently..

Things have been really busy around here recently. I've actually found it a bit hard to post and so here I am finally trying to post something before I need to do something. NOTE: This may go as far back as a month as I haven't done an update post in a while
What I've been doing:
I don't know how long this picture has been around, I love it anyway. :)
Reading.....The Bracken Trilogy, I've almost finished book one, a friend lent it to me and I think that they are pretty good! :D I finished 'All Fall Down' the other day, it did take me a while though, and I actually wasn't that impressed with it. :P Which is a bit irritating. I also finished At Aboukir and Acre by G. A. Henty I love it how in all of the books the hero ends up marrying and it just has such a 'happily ever after' feeling to it. :)

Watching....Arrow!

Arrow is amazing it is awesome! It is wonderful. I'm working on a post for it. I love Oliver, Diggle, Felicity and Laurel. :) we've now finished Season 1 and I think it was great. I wouldn't recommend it to younger people though.

And Hogan's Heroes, I mean seriously whenever Carter dresses up as Hitler it's a barrel full of laughs. :)
Well, me and Mum weren't like this. But I can be at this stage pretty often.
Laughing at....things Saxon says, Horrible Histories and things from Family Ties and oldish T.V. show from the 70's. Not quite little kid appropriate but Mum and I were laughing through it and I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've laughed so hard in anything for ages.

Taking quizzes....Sometimes I go through this whole stage of taking quizzes and beieve me, they are very addicting. Some of the results I wasn't that happy with

Like Mrs. Hudson
But if you read the why, then yes, it's very much like me. :)
Others I was really happy with. :) Like these two:
Princess Bride

Arrow
So yes, very happy with these two. They actually have a few really good quizzes. Here is the link: http://www.zimbio.com/quiz

Like this one. A bit of a challenge, no actually quite a challenge ;)
Planning....to try some new hairstyles. I've actually got quite a few open currently and I'd like to try some LOTR ones as well. To make some new skirts, to enjoy Autumn!

Working on...Reading books (duh) Lenten things, being outside when it is windy.

Asking for... Prayers for Rogan and Eden. The past week was actually really tense and they both really need some prayers, if you would be so kind. :)

Anyway I'd better go. I hope to be able to post more frequently but it's just getting around to it, and also feeling the mood.
Adios amigos!

God Bless

Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land

Sir Gadabout, the Worst Knight in the Land

On Saturday night, after going to confession and picking up Eden from work, she mentioned the idea of going to the video shop and getting the Thief Lord for the little kids. So we drove to the video shop, went inside and began looking for it. As it turned out, they didn't have it. Which was very disappointing! But we ended up coming out with one or two, or seven or eight movies. :P Yeah, anyway....one of the movies we got was called Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land, which we had seen at the S's when we went four our Holiday in 2011 over for the Deb. Gee, that was a long time ago! Anyway, we'd only seen the first two and so we begged Mum to get it, assuring her that yes, she'd probably hate, and yes it was really, stupid. But the important thing: It was funny!

Basically that's a lot of what we've been watching since Saturday night. I love Sir Gadabout. Yep, that's right. It's funny, (hysterical in fact) lame, stupid, ridiculous, and some rather interesting story-lines. Yes, I know that to some people they are really repetitive and yes some of them are very hiding-behind-hands-because-it-is-so-embarrassing type way. Like Eleanora's Betrothal. :)

On Sunday night we sat down and watched the three last of the episodes (there were only five on the disc! Five mind you!) and we all laughed very hard. Even Mum found it funny.
Then me being the awesome person that I am (and not too modest about it :P ) found some more on YouTube which was great.
Now, apparently it's suppose to be based loosely on the King Arthur legends. Now, what it actually means is VERY loosely based. King Arthur is a dimwit, and is obsessed with his hair ('Do you think I should try scrunched?') Gadabout is a loyal, but bumbling, Knight of the Round table. Who always calls King Arthur, 'Majesty.'  Joining him at the round table are: Sir Lancelot (who I hate and I really enjoy it when something bad happens to him) Sir Gestion, Sir Real, Sir Prano, Sir Tificate, and Sir Prise, who obviously do exactly as King  Arthur tells them.
Also in there are Will, Sir Gadabout's squire who wishes to be a great knight one day, Merlin, (who does absolutely nothing) Princess Eleanora the daughter of King Arthur who has a lots more brains than people think she has and is the mysterious, but ever helpful, Sir Knight. Rancid and Nanny, a comical version of Mordred and his aunt Morgan Le Fay, are always the bad guys! And they are rather funny, too.

Will and Eleanora
So if you are in the mood for a laugh, entertainment, and a rather interesting medieval story with a lot of dashes of modern day addes in, then please be my guest: watch Sir Gadabout, see how funny it is. And maybe we can go and talk about how funny it it! :D
