Robin Hood Vs. King Arthur. Robin Hood Week.

A question that I will invariably ask people when we are talking old legends or medieval is this. Who do you like better, Robin Hood or King Arthur? Not just the people themselves, but their stories, their characters and places as well. :)

Okay, well obviously I've read and know a lot more about Robin Hood. I have read probably only one series of King Arthur books all the way through, these being my Squire Tales, others I have skip-read or flicked to different stories in it but not read all of it.
Now, me, I'm a Hoodie (Robin Hood all the way!) but maybe the main difference with the King Arthur legends and the Robin Hood legends is this: The Arthurian Legends don't always focus on King Arthur, they sometimes go and follow the adventures of one of his knights, or maybe him, but it is not always definite.
Love this.
Robin Hood on the other hand is in every single story! He is the main character of every one. But the other difference for me is this: Robin was just a simple guy with a passion for helping the less fortunate and a rather good shot with his bow. :) King Arthur was a King who spent a lot of time giving counsel to his knights after he became king and stayed basically at Camelot his whole life. Kind of boring. The other thing is that King Arthur has the influence as a King and a monarch whereas Robin Hood, he's nothing special, he's an outlawed man but he fights injustice, and by doing so, he risks his own capture and execution. King Arthur and Robin Hood are the same in some ways, but they're different as well. And I think I will always like Robin Hood better than King Arthur, not just the characters, but the stories, the legends.

And I think the idea of living in the Green Wood, fighting the Sheriff's men sounds pretty cool. Being a knight would be good as well, but I'd prefer the former.
And I think I always will.
What about you?

Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land

Sir Gadabout, the Worst Knight in the Land

On Saturday night, after going to confession and picking up Eden from work, she mentioned the idea of going to the video shop and getting the Thief Lord for the little kids. So we drove to the video shop, went inside and began looking for it. As it turned out, they didn't have it. Which was very disappointing! But we ended up coming out with one or two, or seven or eight movies. :P Yeah, anyway....one of the movies we got was called Sir Gadabout: The Worst Knight in the Land, which we had seen at the S's when we went four our Holiday in 2011 over for the Deb. Gee, that was a long time ago! Anyway, we'd only seen the first two and so we begged Mum to get it, assuring her that yes, she'd probably hate, and yes it was really, stupid. But the important thing: It was funny!

Basically that's a lot of what we've been watching since Saturday night. I love Sir Gadabout. Yep, that's right. It's funny, (hysterical in fact) lame, stupid, ridiculous, and some rather interesting story-lines. Yes, I know that to some people they are really repetitive and yes some of them are very hiding-behind-hands-because-it-is-so-embarrassing type way. Like Eleanora's Betrothal. :)

On Sunday night we sat down and watched the three last of the episodes (there were only five on the disc! Five mind you!) and we all laughed very hard. Even Mum found it funny.
Then me being the awesome person that I am (and not too modest about it :P ) found some more on YouTube which was great.
Now, apparently it's suppose to be based loosely on the King Arthur legends. Now, what it actually means is VERY loosely based. King Arthur is a dimwit, and is obsessed with his hair ('Do you think I should try scrunched?') Gadabout is a loyal, but bumbling, Knight of the Round table. Who always calls King Arthur, 'Majesty.'  Joining him at the round table are: Sir Lancelot (who I hate and I really enjoy it when something bad happens to him) Sir Gestion, Sir Real, Sir Prano, Sir Tificate, and Sir Prise, who obviously do exactly as King  Arthur tells them.
Also in there are Will, Sir Gadabout's squire who wishes to be a great knight one day, Merlin, (who does absolutely nothing) Princess Eleanora the daughter of King Arthur who has a lots more brains than people think she has and is the mysterious, but ever helpful, Sir Knight. Rancid and Nanny, a comical version of Mordred and his aunt Morgan Le Fay, are always the bad guys! And they are rather funny, too.

Will and Eleanora
So if you are in the mood for a laugh, entertainment, and a rather interesting medieval story with a lot of dashes of modern day addes in, then please be my guest: watch Sir Gadabout, see how funny it is. And maybe we can go and talk about how funny it it! :D

King Arthur: The Movie

On Friday night I watched "King Arthur" I had been waiting to watch it for a few days and the others had watched it recently and I was waiting and waiting. It is the first MA movie I have watched (I pretty sure in some countries MA is actually the R ratings) we had to skip one scene but besides that it was pretty awesome.

There was a lot of blood and red on swords and that sort of stuff and a bit of language but it was good and unlike "The A-Team" where I left the room because the movie was just like language, language and lets not forget MORE language I stayed. It also proves my point that I can watch movies with violence in them but not bad language which is continuous.

The story-line actually isn't the classic "King Arthur and his knights in shining armor, blah, blah, blah," it was more what King Arthur actually could of been like.It is a lot different from all the books I had read and thus, I was happily surprised although he others had told me that it was different.

Trystan and
Lancelot

Lancelot were my favourite characters and I think the coolest guys out of the movie I mean Lancelot has two awesome swords and Trystan has a bow. Although Bors was rather funny and I was really disappointed at the end that they both die. :( *sniff, sniff* SAD!!

Keira Knightely in the role of Guenevere was terrible she was just like "Ahhh, she's scary!!! Or she's sooooooo boring!" She looked really weird at the end. And Merlin lets get started on Merlin "CREEEEPPPPPPPYYYYY!!!" Like seriously creepy.

The battle at the end was really cool and I liked the quote the bad guy says "Finally, a man worth killing!" The bad guys were a little creepy and (oh, surprise?) bad.

Arthur was alright and at first I really liked him but than I was like *sigh* "He's being boring again. Whats Lancelot and
Trystan

Trystan doing?" :D Get what I mean. The other knights were cool as well just not that cool.
I highly recommend King Arthur expect however, one skipped scene, gore and lots of blood and some bad language. Also a lot of the people in King Arthur are pagans and King Arthur is the only Christian out of his knights. And the priests are weird and bad not how priests should be at all.
